Senior sessions like Laila’s always remind me how much personality can unfold once the camera comes out. These Senior Photos Kankakee Illinois are some of my favorites. They blend natural beauty with genuine personality in such an effortless way. What started as a quiet, slightly shy beginning quickly turned into an evening full of laughter and golden light.
Perry Farm and Kankakee River State Park
We explored some of the prettiest natural spots in the area. Laila had a clear vision from the start. She wanted nature, wildflowers, and open fields. Both of which Perry Farm Park and Kankakee River State Park gave us. We began the session at Perry Farm in Bourbonnais. This is one of my favorite local spots for senior photos because of its open spaces, tall grasses, and soft natural textures.
Shyness to Laughter
Laila started the session a little shy, which is something I see often during the first few minutes of a shoot. But, it never takes long for them to open up. Once we started walking through the fields and chatting a bit, she relaxed right into the experience. Within minutes, she was smiling, laughing, and completely in the moment. The warm summer light filtered through the grasses and wildflowers, creating the dreamiest golden glow around her.
Outfit Choices
For her first outfit, Laila chose something soft and effortless that blended beautifully with the natural surroundings. The open fields at Perry Farm made the perfect setting for the look she envisioned. It was organic, light, and full of movement. We spent time wandering the trails, pausing whenever the sunlight peeked through just right. Those golden-hour moments are always worth chasing, and Laila absolutely glowed in that warm light.
After exploring Perry Farm, we headed to Kankakee River State Park for the second part of her senior session and her outfit change. The scenery there shifts just enough to give a completely different feel—taller trees and the quiet beauty of nature surrounding the river. It added a little variety while still staying true to Laila’s vision of wild, natural landscapes.
By this point, Laila was completely out of her shell. She moved with confidence, laughed easily, and trusted the process, which always makes such a difference in photos. The golden sunlight was dipping lower through the trees, and we spent the rest of the session chasing those last warm rays of light along the trails and open spaces. These are the kinds of evenings that make senior sessions so special—relaxed, fun, and full of beautiful natural light.
