There’s something so special about getting to photograph a moment that changes everything 🤍 Nick reached out to me quite a while before this session, already dreaming up the perfect way to surprise Hannah with a proposal during what she thought was simply a couples session at the beautiful Japan House. From keeping the secret to planning out the timing and location, every detail was so intentional and heartfelt.
The evening could not have been more perfect for it. Spring had finally settled into Champaign, the gardens were glowing with fresh blooms, and the golden sunlight poured through the trees in the dreamiest way. Hannah had no idea what was coming, which made every moment feel even more genuine. We spent the beginning of the session laughing, wandering the gardens, and capturing the two of them together in such a natural and effortless way — all while Nick patiently waited for the right moment.
And then, it happened. In the middle of the soft golden light, Nick got down on one knee and completely surprised Hannah. Her reaction was one of those moments you never forget — pure emotion, excitement, and the happiest kind of shock. What made it beautiful was how real it was. The nerves, the tears, the laughter afterward — every bit of it told their story exactly as it unfolded.
After the proposal, the entire energy of the session shifted in the sweetest way. The excitement was contagious, and you could just feel how much love surrounded them. We spent the rest of the evening soaking in the sunset, celebrating this brand new chapter together, and capturing portraits that they’ll be able to look back on forever.
